The Light

I am heading off on a much needed vacation. But I would not go a week without something for you. I have learned, as I have developed into a writer, that I wanted to try my hand at poetry. So, I have been writing for another site called Niume!/postson many subjects. Some of the poems are about the painful effects of bullying on people, but hidden within a poem. I’ll share two of them here for the next few weeks. I would love feedback. ~Alan

In the winter, I daydream of sunny days

It is the winter when I am cold, lonely, low

When I was young, winter would be a magic time

I had no cares and no weight on my shoulders

But winter caught up with me, clouded my days and closed the light

Snow became my barrier to the outside world

In the wind of a blizzard, no one could hear me

Days were short and nights were long

Lost was the warmth I needed in my life

Lost was the bright orb that led me to crisp and long days

But winter can not last forever

The ice melts and the weather warms

My skin feels the immediate effect of this beautiful change

I go outside and there is the light of summer

Warming me and bringing together others who were trapped in the cold

The light

That wonderful part of the world where we can travel and feel free

The light

No more doom and gloom of the dark of winter

Only the warmth of the summer

Where the light is mine for more time

Keeping me from the trap that is in my mind
